Sugar is the Ultimate Antioxidant and Insulin Will Make You Younger

How carbohydrate and insulin protect against glycation and support the antioxidant defense system.

No, I don't mean that ironically. A little hyperbolic? A little, but not ironic.

This is my new Examine.Com Research Digest Editorial about some underappreciated benefits of glucose and insulin. The Research Digest costs money, but as a member of my audience you can read my editorial and also get a sneak peak at the issue for free. Check it out!

  1. This is a refreshing change from all the anti-sugar info out there

  2. I never thought much into the carb-glutathione connection. Anything tied into balancing the metabolism seems like a good aspect of health to investigate. My Lyme doctor is shocked that I eat as many carbs as I do - without worrying about "feeding the bugs."

What macro ratios do you recommend for exercisers vs non-exercisers?

    Thanks for this.

    1. Yessi,

Depends on the exercise. More intense than light jogging increases carb requirements. Depends how much. I would increase if there are any signs of stress response or bloodwork showing high cortisol. Titrate up till you feel best and bloodwork normalizes.
